The above-ground component of the Sentricon® System is better than ever, thanks to new flexible packaging for easier installation in tight areas to quickly target active termites. The Recruit® AG Flex Pack above-ground station is being introduced to Certified Sentricon Specialist™ companies this year.
Recruit AG Flex Pack has the same active ingredient, noviflumuron, inside but is designed for easy installation even when a flat surface isn’t available. Recruit AG Flex Pack features soft, moldable packaging that can be installed on corners, over wood trim and in other hard-to-install areas. If a technician needs to stack the stations, or otherwise wants to use the hard beige cover, it will still be available. Because termites thrive in darkness, a thin, black cover is available to block out light and make Recruit AG Flex Pack even more inviting to termites.
Take a look at this early trial video showing Recruit AG Flex Pack and what happened when the black cover was pulled off:
Companies have relied on proven colony elimination with Sentricon using Recruit® AG since its release in 1998. Terminix Pest Services in Houma, Louisiana, one of the first companies authorized to sell Sentricon in 1995, is among those that trusts Recruit AG.
“As soon as Recruit AG came out, we started using it and we fell in love with it,” says Dan Foster, general manager for Terminix. “It helped us get control quicker, and today, Recruit AG is an integral part of our Sentricon System offering. Above-ground stations increased our confidence in Sentricon because they work so well.”
Louisiana has a very high incidence of Formosan termites, one of the most aggressive termite species. Louisiana also has the highest use of Recruit AG in the nation. Foster says this is not a coincidence.
“Formosans are very aggressive,” he explains. “If you put the bait station in the right place, they’ll jump on it right away and they’ll consume mass quantities of bait. The more bait they eat, the quicker you can knock them out.”
Foster, who has worked for Terminix for 25 years, says the company installs Recruit® AG on 9 out of 10 curative termite jobs. The company takes time to train employees on how to discuss Recruit AG with homeowners.
“If you want to be successful with Recruit AG, you have to know what you’re doing and take the time to do it right,” he says. “And you have to explain it to your customers properly. Just like the in-ground stations, our customers want to know if we’re attracting termites to their house. We have to explain it’s not an attractant, it’s a preferred feeding source, but it doesn’t attract. We explain how the termites bring the bait back to the rest of the colony, and it kills them all.
“Customers today are so much more knowledgeable than they were 20 years ago. They’ve all been online and know more about termites and more about Sentricon.”
Foster knows the art of installing Recruit AG over active termite mud tubes, and he says his company is excited about the release of Recruit AG Flex Pack.
“Flex Pack is absolutely going to make it easier to install,” he says. “It will give us more flexibility and more opportunities to utilize the Recruit AG stations in a better way. That’s one of the things we love about Dow AgroSciences — they’re constantly researching to make improvements in their products.”
